In November 2024, a powerful new chapter in sustainable agriculture began with the founding of OptiCrop Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ClearVue Technologies. Born out of a strategic acquisition, OptiCrop was established to lead a global ag-tech revolution—uniting ClearVue’s cutting-edge solar greenhouse technologies with ROOTS Sustainable Agricultural Technologies’ award-winning irrigation and plant optimisation systems.
ROOTS, formerly listed on the ASX, was renowned for pioneering two transformative innovations:
🔸 Root Zone Temperature Optimization (RTZO) — which enhances crop yields by precisely regulating soil temperature, and
🔸 Irrigation by Condensation (IBC) — a water-efficient system that generates irrigation from air humidity, enabling low-input agriculture in arid conditions.
When ROOTS faced financial restructuring, ClearVue seized the opportunity to acquire its extensive IP portfolio and key assets through a newly created Israeli subsidiary, OptiCrop (Israel) Ltd. Approved by the District Court in Lod, Israel, the acquisition included patents, technologies, and experienced team members — forming the foundation of OptiCrop’s operations and vision.
This union wasn’t the beginning of the story—it was the realisation of a long-held vision. ClearVue and ROOTS had first explored collaboration back in 2019, but the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic put plans on pause. Now, five years later, the time was right. With climate challenges escalating and global food systems under pressure, the integration of energy-smart glazing with intelligent root-zone control and water-saving technology offers a game-changing solution for farmers, greenhouse operators, and food producers around the world.
Under the OptiCrop banner, these synergistic technologies will be developed, scaled, and delivered to markets across the globe. Key ROOTS innovators, including co-founders Boaz Wachtel and Dr. Sharon Devir, have joined ClearVue’s Ag Solutions Team, ensuring continuity, deep expertise, and a shared commitment to transforming agriculture.
